Content can be an overwhelming thing to think about…a lot of people (personally and business wise) don’t even get going on social media because they are held back by the thought “What on earth should I say?”
I’m going to give you some handy some starting points to think about if you are a bit stuck on thinking about what content to share about your business – remember that sometimes it’s hard to think of something interesting, because you may be a little too close to your business or subject area.

Ask yourself (or your manager/business owner if you are the social media manager in the business):
(a) Why was the business set-up in the first place? (Start-up story)
(b) What makes you different to other competitors in your industry?
(c) Why do your customers/clients stay with you?
(d) Who are the people in the business that drive the knowledge? (Technical, know-how, etc)
(e) Who do you admire within your industry (specific professionals, brands or businesses)?
(f) Who are some of your closest business colleagues and/or connections? (Not employed by you) What are there areas of specialisms and are they related at all to your business? (Could provide guest blogging content.)
(g) Are there some specific things that occur every month or year in the business – what are they? (Will be an idea for different series of blog posts)
(h) Are there some related services or products that you produce or deliver which work well together?
(i) Do you write any regular content for a printed magazine at all? (Opportunity to be smart about recycling content.)
(j) Do any of your staff take part in charity runs, programmes or projects that are great stories to share and help promote?
These questions should help to unlock some of the content that is literally just lying around in your business. Start with those and see how you go. If you are still stuck – drop me a question below in the comments section with your website address and I’ll give you some ideas that I can see just off the back of looking at your web property. (This is the bit I enjoy the most about my work!)
