The world of the social space is coming into its 10th year (LinkedIn, May 2003; Facebook, Feb 2004) and boy has the landscape shifted and morphed. In the UK, I still feel like we are behind the curve of the more advanced US businesses who very quickly accepted Social Media for all its wonder early on. Good news is...the UK is catching up. Bad news...the landscape has changed again. My View on Twitter as a Social Media Platform
Twitter is a simple platform - compared to Facebook. In that respect – it is...what it is. Over time...the actual user experience on the platform has improved – although during the time that it wasn’t too great, most people turned to using 3rd party applications to use the platform (e.g. dashboards like Hootsuite; or mobile phone apps). This has probably harmed Twitter a little to an extent, because it has to now attract users back to the platform in order to leverage % usability on selling its advertising options.
